NBA Friday Night Recap

A ton of NBA basketball was played tonight, nine games in total. For true NBA fans, a couple of the match-ups were worthy of following, but no big time games were on the schedule tonight. It's impossible to watch every minute of every game, catch all the highlights, and write about them all. But honestly, who needs it? I watched the end the of the OKC Thunder- Portland game and caught 2 minutes of highlights from around the league. What I heard was so intriguing, interesting and amazing that I had to share it with the world, because I don't know who will be watching Sportscenter over and over again tomorrow morning.  I won't get into too many details, there's just some stuff you gotta know. Hit the jump.

(Hint: 31 and 31, 36 and 34, and another comeback victory)

First story, something historic.  Kevin Love, the Minnesota Timberwolves power forward scored 31 points tonight against the NY Knicks.  This in itself is an impressive feat for an undersized forward out of UCLA, but what more impressive is the second number on his stat line, and this is where history comes into play:  Tonight, Kevin Love grabbed an astonishing 31 rebounds.  Unless you can't read well, that means K.Love went for 31 and 31.  No one has racked up numbers like that since Hall of Famer Moses Malone did it back in '82 (he had 32 and 38).  History my friends, history.  Just to add, Michael Beasley added 35 points of his own, and Darko had 9.  Congrats to Kevin and Darko on career highs.  T-wolves with the win.

Next up, OKC Thunder.  OKC got the win tonight against the Portland Trailblazers.  KD went for 34, and Russell Westbrook had a career high 36.  It was his birthday tonight. Happy birthday Russell Westbrook.  These duo right here is going to take over the NBA.  KD pretty much cannot miss, and Russ has one of the quickest drives to the basket I have ever seen, among many other skills.  Plus, the Thunder are the best free-throw shooting team in the league.  Free-throws win games, that's all you need to know.

Finally, the Utah Jazz came from behind again tonight, and won their fourth game in row. I'm pretty sure everyone saw this coming. Comeback over the Clippers, check. Cooling off the Miami Heat, check. Smoking the Magic, check. The Hawks had no chance tonight, sorry. Let's see if they can make it 5 comebacks in a row tomorrow night against the Bobcats.

Yup, they did it again tonight (12/13/10)

Addition: To bring basketball and fashion together, I could have sworn I saw one of those kids that wipe up the sweat in the OKC games rocking a 10deep 5-panel.  I could be incorrect, but I am going to try and get a picture and verify my statement.  Now go watch Sportscenter, so you can become aware of everything that wasn't written about in this post.
